Real Deal Review: Jaida’s Beauty Locker Pomegranate Collection

Earlier this year, I attended Nashville’s Ms. Bella Pageant in support of my friend Danielle Brown (if you missed it, check out her remarkable story here). While there, I had the opportunity witness the coming together of so many great women for a great cause. There were also some awesome vendors on site! The one that stood out to me the most was Jaida’s Beauty Locker.
I was getting something to snack on and noticed a pleasantly decorated table with various jars of goodies. When I approached the table, I quickly realized something special about the vendor – the owner was a teenager! I was quickly impressed by Jaida Dumas’ poise, attitude, and ability to effectively communicate her knowledge of the product well beyond what her years would imply. She and her mother, Erika Freeman, were both friendly and efficient, in helping me find products suited to me and getting an order in for those that weren’t available on-site. I ended up buying one of each product type available: bath salts, sugar scrub, body butter and body oil.
The Products – A Pomegranate Paradise
For the purpose of this review, I’m going to focus on the salts, scrub, and butter, which I purchased in Pomegranate. First, let me say the Pomegranate Collection smells delicious! Pomegranate as an ingredient does have beneficial properties, but it was the scent that drew me in. It’s like a rich but pleasant, non-chemical sweetness. Secondly, I found the value of the size to be good for the price of the product.
Bath Salts ($10)

*It is worth noting that this product was not available onsite at the pageant, so I had to place an order to be mailed. The order, placed on Friday, was mailed the following Monday; I was pleased with the promptness of the proprietors.
This past week was crazy busy and quite stressful. By Sunday afternoon, every muscle in my body was sore, like I had a been running a marathon. In a way, you could say I had, but I digress. I decided to reward myself with a long soak in the tub, with my bath salts. They are pink and blue in the jar but turn a beautiful purple in the water. I love that they don’t leave a ring or stain in the tub. I also enjoyed the softness of the water and the relaxing properties.
Verdict: Very Nice
Body Scrub ($10)

This might be my favorite product of the bunch. Unlike many mass-marketed scrubs, you can tell this body scrub is made from real oil and real sugar. If I didn’t know there were essential and fragrance oils included, I would be tempted to take a taste! Again the smell is potent, and the product is rich. It is now my go-to exfoliant, and I use it every time I shave or give myself a pedicure.

Verdict – High and Migh-T
Body Butter ($10)

I’m gonna let you in a secret, so lean in close…I’m ashy somewhere almost all the time. Yes, I said it! Whether it be my legs in my pants or the spaces between my fingers and toes, I just can’t seem to stay moist head to toe at once. I have used extra strength lotions like Curel for years, but they no longer do the job. I switched to Palmer’s Cocoa Butter early in the year, but it seemed to just sit on the surface of the skin. My skin was so unhappy, y’all.
But then there was Jaida’s Body Butter. When I opened the jar, I was pleasantly surprised to find a whipped texture. This butter has the body you’d typically expect, but it is also light and fluffy, making it easy to apply. Once on your hands, it readily melts down to an oil, but it’s non-greasy and absorbable. I really enjoy it when my skin needs a pick me up.
Verdict: Migh-T Fine
All in all, these are great products with natural, organic ingredients at an affordable price. I was initially drawn to the product because it was made with love by a young person. I will purchase more product (I’m eyeing the Aloe) because it is QUALITY. And I suggest you buy some, too!
