Poppin’Off! – ColourPop Spring Collection Review

Ah, Spring! The grass is green, the flowers are in bloom, the pollen count is high…spring has sprung and in the words of dear friend, “it’s a beauuutiful thing.” Also beautiful are the colors of spring – soft whites and beiges, pretty pastels – and ColourPop Cosmetics is right on time with their spring collections.

ColourPop is a Los Angeles-based makeup brand that specializes in high quality cosmetics that are both affordable and cruelty-free. ColourPop featured three spring color schemes this year – beige, pink, and nectar. I had heard a lot of good things about ColourPop, and the nectar collection looked beautiful, so I decided to give it a try.
ColourPop Spring Collection
I decided to order the Blow Me Away eyeshadow palette, Knockout blush/highlighter duo, Ultra Satin Creme Lipstick in Jacquard, and the Lippie Stix Lippie Primer.
ColourPop Blow Me Away Eyeshadow Palette
This palette includes four shades, three mattes, and one duochrome shimmer.

ColourPop Knockout Pressed Powder Face Duo
The Knockout is a blush/highlighter duo with peach tones, and gold shimmer in the highlighter.

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip and Lippie Stix Lip Primer
The Ultra Satin Lip is a cream lipstick with a satin finish and emollient ingredients, and the lip primer is recommended to aid in a smooth application and boost staying power.

The Lowdown
- Blow Me Away – I really like the colors in this palette. They are not necessarily opaque, but not too sheer or chalky. The curated collection of peaches and corals are colors I don’t find often in individual shadows, and when I do, they usually look ashy on me. The ColourPop shadows are very smooth and blendable.
- Knockout – I couldn’t wear the blush, as it was far too fair and cool for my skin tone, but the highlighter is absolutely GORGEOUS. It’s especially beautiful when paired with warm-toned blushes (oranges, corals, and peachy colors).
- Ultra Satin Lip – I didn’t have a very good first impression of this lip color. The color Jacquard is significantly lighter than the online swatches, and the texture is somewhat pasty.
- Lip Primer – I like the texture of the the lip primer, and the fact that it is clear, not opaque, will allow for broader use.
The Verdict -Does ColourPop Spring Collection…Pop?
Overall, I am enjoying my ColourPop products. I will definitely be purchasing more eyeshadows; the pressed pigments have really picqued my interest now that I’ve used the pressed powder shadows. I’d also like to try the blushes. The lip products left a bit to be desired, but I am going to attempt to pair Jacquard with other lip colors I have, and I’m willing to give another Colourpop formulation a try.
